Population survey analyses rely on using valid survey weights. Creating and adjusting these weights is critical to ensuring that analyses of survey data accurately reflect the population and yield correct conclusions. This workshop will introduce participants to methods for creating, adjusting, and applying survey weights, including:
- Creating base weights for probability and nonprobability samples
- Modifying weights to handle data collection challenges such as nonresponse
- Calibrating post-survey weights by poststratification and raking
Methods will be illustrated through examples in R, with companion syntax provided for Stata.
This workshop is intended for people who have the equivalent of two semesters of statistics, previous experience with ANOVA and linear regression, and feel comfortable with the material covered in our Design and Analysis of Complex Surveys Workshop.
