In recent years, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of online tools to collect survey data. This method of data collection is quick and inexpensive, and has the potential to reach large populations that are more diverse than traditional sampling methods. However, online surveys have the potential to result in a higher proportion of low-quality data. Surveys can be filled out insincerely, carelessly, or even by automatic form-filling software. This workshop will cover strategies to detect and screen low-quality responses both in the survey design stage, as well as through analyzing patterns in responses after they are collected.
