Item response theory (IRT) consists of a family of mathematical models which can be used to estimate and evaluate the relationship between observed variables and a latent trait. IRT models are used to analyze tools like tests, quizzes, surveys, or any other tool/instrument which is trying to measure an underlying trait. In this workshop, we will cover various observed variable types. Special focus will be given to educational and testing research settings as these are where the models were popularized and developed.Concepts that will be covered in this workshop include:
- Item Characteristic Curves
- Information Curves
- 1P, 2P, and 3P Logistic Models
Examples will be given in R using the mirt package, and options for running these models in other software packages will be given.
