Introductory Statistics Using Julia

This workshop is being offered jointly with the Cornell Data Den, a workshop series from our colleagues in Research Data and Open Scholarship (RDOS). Both an introduction to Julia and an introduction to statistics using Julia will be offered. Neither workshop requires attending the other, but will provide context for different uses of the language. In the workshop, we will explore in a hands-on fashion using Julia to:
  • Understanding variable types
  • Creating and recoding new variables
  • Exploratory univariate data analysis and summary statistics
  • Bivariate data analysis
  • Graphing and visualizing data
  • Finding help and reading documentation
Registration for these workshops (and the rest of the dataden series) will be through a link that will be added here when it is available.
Downloading Julia: If you intend follow along with the Julia coding during the workshop, please make sure that you have the latest version of Julia installed. You can download and install Julia using the instructions found on: https://julialang.org/downloads/. We will use the Pluto.jl program to run our code which can be installed directly from Julia itself, and will demonstrate installing Pluto from scratch.
