Population surveys are often implemented using a complex sampling design which can include features such as stratification, clustering, multi-stage sampling, and weighting. The statistical analysis of such a survey may yield biased population estimates and incorrect variance estimates if the design is not properly taken into consideration in the analysis.
In this hands-on workshop, we will demonstrate how to analyze complex survey data using the statistical software package R. We will use publicly available data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), however the methods presented will be applicable to complex surveys in general.
Participants should feel comfortable with the material covered in Design and Analysis of Complex Surveys workshop. If you intend to follow along with the R demonstrations during the workshop, please make sure that you have the most recent versions of both R and RStudio installed on your computer prior to the workshop.
