Statistical Software

Many people ask us which of these packages is the best, but there truly is no best package for everyone. Staff statisticians can assist you in a multitude of packages. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Which one is right for you really depends on the analyses you want to do, what is used by your colleagues, as well as your statistical and programming background. Cornell University has arrangements with several software companies to provide desktop statistical software at a reduced price to Cornell students, faculty and staff. More detailed information is available on the company websites, which can be found through the software pages below.

  • PSPP is a program for statistical analysis of sampled data, which is a free alternative for the proprietary program SPSS.
  • G*Power is a useful program for sample size calculations and power analysis.
